Tuesday, 26 June 2012

The convenience of villa based holidays are a great attraction to those of us that like to go away with a group of friends or have a larger family excursion to plan for. The wide range of this kind of accommodation reflects its popularity and the most visited tourist destinations have a great selection of deals on offer.

When selecting your accommodation, there are many options which you must consider. Of course, before you can do this you need to decide where you want to holiday - so where are the best destinations for villa holidays?

Portugal

Portugal has a great reputation for family holidays and the Algarve is still the most well-known area of the country. With its Atlantic Ocean coastlines and plethora of Blue Flag beaches, having the familiar Mediterranean feel that many of us love as a background to a relaxing break, Portugal is certainly a great option for those looking for villa holidays.

The wide range of locations for villas in Portugal mean that you can chose to base yourself around the activities which suit you and your party most. Whether that means making sure you are within a short walking distance of the multitude of gorgeous beaches or perhaps situated closer to one of the world-famous golf courses found in the country, villas in Portugal will be perfectly situated.

Cyprus

Cyprus is becoming increasingly popular for all types of visitors, but for those looking to rent accommodation it is a place that's certainly worth looking into. The Coral Bay and Peyeia areas are great examples of destinations where a wide range of purpose built villas are on offer, providing all the mod-cons you would expect; including the all important aspect of good air conditioning and private swimming pools.

Three or four bedroom properties will comfortably sleep eight to twelve people and prices are extremely competitive.

Often called 'The Island of The Gods', Cyprus has a traditional Mediterranean climate and boasts everything from ancient archaeological sites to fragrant pine forests. Spacious villas in Cyprus are definitely one option that you should look into if you are considering this type of holiday.

Balearic Islands

Of course the beauty of a villa holiday is that no one particular place is the same, with choices ranging from self-catering apartments to country cottages and beyond. The Balearic Islands are always popular for any kind of holiday and provide a particularly good choice in the self-catering marketplace.

Villas in Menorca are a great place to see the islands in a slightly different light, avoiding the higher density tourist hotspots of Mallorca and Ibiza whilst taking advantage of the magnificent coastline which measures nearly two hundred miles long.

The island's rich natural habitats mean it has been awarded UNSEEN Biosphere Reserve status and, with a population of only sixty two thousand, Menarche is the Balearic Island that remains virtually untouched and unsullied by tourism.

Holiday-home style accommodation spans a wide range of options, from well-appointed whitewashed villas to more traditional farmhouses which are all guaranteed to give you a great insight into the everyday lives and traditions of the local population.
