Irish President visits St  Johnís Church, Donegore thumbnail

IRISH President Michael D Higgins has visited St John's Church in Donegore to pay his respects to Sir Samuel Ferguson - 'perhaps the most important Irish poet of the 19th century' - who is buried in the adjacent churchyard.
President Higgins said said that he was 'delighted and honoured to visit such a beautiful church'.
He added: "I remember studying Sir Samuel Ferguson and his work, and have been talking for years about wanting to visit his resting place."
