‘Fighting fund’  hits £5k target thumbnail

IN true David and Goliath style, Parkgate residents have raised a whopping £5,000 in support of their fight against a proposed landfill site on the outskirts of the village.
Last month a meeting organised by Parkgate and District Community Organisation overwhelmingly backed a 'fighting fund' to help them pay for top legal representation at the Planning Appeals Commission in Belfast.
A recent meeting heard that at least £5,000 would be needed to ensure the villagers can afford top legal representation for the next PAC meeting on December 12.
With a deadline of December 5, an online crowdfunding page was set up, and thanks to additional personal donations, the target has been hit.
