Solicitor ‘should be ashamed of himself’

AN Antrim woman is demanding urgent answers after intimate personal details of her forthcoming medical negligence case were 'sold to the highest bidder' following the sudden collapse of a local law firm.
David G Bell Solicitors have been a familiar fixture in Antrim since 1994, and with four lawyers on the team, a five-figure advertising budget and a burgeoning client list, business appeared to be booming.
But behind the scenes there were problems, and these came to a head a fortnight ago when Mr Bell told shell-shocked staff that the practice was going under.
On Friday February 3 the premises did not open as usual. After more than 32 years, Gary Bell signed off with a simple note which read: 'This office is now closed'. By the time many people realised that something was amiss, the former proprietor was in Tenerife.
But it has emerged that before turning the key for the last time, Mr Bell had sold on the vast majority of the practice's case files to legal firms across the province.
Alisha Clark wants her file back. Furthermore, she believes Gary Bell 'should be ashamed of himself' after her private details were transferred to another lawyer without her consent.
