Residents rage over plans for 288 houses thumbnail

RATHENRAW residents are up in arms about plans to build almost 300 houses on a green area beside their estate.
The houses are earmarked for a site at the junction of Ballygore Road and Birch Hill Road to be built over three stages.
One of those protesting is single mum Helen Gilhooly, who said that the massive development would have an impact on the environment and the community.
“There are road safety issues, there are drainage and flooding issues and there are wildlife issues," she said.
“Residents' concerns were ignored when the Traveller halting site was put up, but this is worse."
