Hospital ‘snub’ puts lives at risk thumbnail

CUTTING-edge diagnostic tests that could save lives are being deliberately denied to patients across Antrim, the Borough's richest man has revealed.
Randox was launched from a former chicken shed in Crumlin in 1982, but it now manufactures more clinical diagnostic products than any other company in the world.
But, incredibly, not one of them is offered to patients at Antrim Hospital.
Speaking exclusively to the Antrim Guardian this week, founder Dr Peter FitzGerald admitted that he was baffled by the decision - insisting that his products were cheaper and significantly better than those favoured by the Northern Trust.
“Our biggest markets are the United States, China, France, India and the UK - but we sell nothing to Antrim Hospital.
“I understand they use other brands which are more expensive. It's something we are perpetually annoyed about."
