Millions go up in smoke thumbnail

NEW figures have revealed that the bill for the botched and bloated Renewable Heat Incentive scheme has sailed past the 3 million mark across the Antrim area.
The Department of the Economy released the most detailed list of recipients to date this week - and the huge sums of cash involved will undoubtedly only fan the flames just as the province prepares to return to the polls.
Evidently millions of pounds in claims have been made from all four corners of the Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough since the ill-fated scheme was launched.
And while the latest figures reveal for the first time many of the individuals who have also benefited the picture is still far from complete.
Claims under the 5,000 threshold - a not inconsiderable sum if it appeared in the average bank account - remain under wraps.
