AN Antrim student is trying to pick up the pieces this week after witnessing the horror of the Manchester terror attack unfold before her eyes.
Former Antrim Grammar pupil Shannon Smilie was working as an attendant in the VIP suite at the Manchester Arena when a suicide bomber killed himself and 22 others attending an Ariana Grande pop concert.
The 20-year-old has since been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder but now hopes to help those who lost loved ones in the blast.
Speaking exclusively to the Antrim Guardian, she said: "It was just a normal night. People were walking out and then there was a bang...I saw loads of shoes, loads of high heels on the floor. People just abandoned them as they ran.
“There were bodies lying around and the police were running around with massive guns telling us to get out."
