‘Drink driving’ councillor quits thumbnail

A DUP councillor on Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council has stepped down from his post after being caught driving with excess alcohol in his breath by police, on the day after the General Election in June.
Trevor Beatty was fined £400 and disqualified from driving for three years when he admitted the charge at Laganside Courthouse in Belfast.
The 63-year-old former bank manager with First Trust in Antrim was elected to the new Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council for the first time in 2014.
