£13 million Trust savings ‘death by a thousand cuts’ thumbnail

ELDERLY people look set to be 'hit hardest' by the £13 million worth of Northern Trust 'savings', which critics insist will have a 'detrimental impact' on front line services.
The proposed cuts, part of a £70m health service 'economy drive' across Northern Ireland, were announced at an extraordinary Board meeting in Antrim Area Hospital.
Alliance MLA David Ford said he feared the health service was 'in crisis'
“There will be significant reductions in the services provided to older people," he said.
“The reduction in the planned number of home care packages and the reduction in community rehabilitation places will all add to the pressure on acute services at Antrim Hospital."
