Gang attack could have 'culminated in murder’ thumbnail

A BRUTAL gang attack yards from Antrim town centre could easily have culminated in murder, it has been claimed.
The shocking incident took place at Bridge Street on Saturday August 26, but a PSNI appeal to find the perpetrators was only issued this week.
A man in his 20s was walking along the busy thoroughfare at around 7.30pm when he was set upon by a mob of between 10 and 15 assailants.
He was quickly battered into submission, left bruised and bleeding with a broken arm.
But Antrim Town councillor Jim Montgomery believes it could have been 'a whole lot worse'.
“When you have 15 people laying into one person you could be very easily looking at a death," he said.
“With so many fists and boots going in, we could have been looking at murder on a summer's evening."
