A LOCAL businessman has accused the authorities of neglecting the Antrim street where his chippie is located, describing that part of the town as being 'like Beirut'.
A furious Gordon Rowan, proprietor of Rolo's, says Fountain Street has been 'totally forgotten about'.
He made his comments after a legal loophole allowed drivers to park outside his premises all day, which he claims had a devastating effect on his business.
“People were parking morning to night and there was no passing trade getting in, it was a disaster," he said.
“This is a busy street and we rely on people being able to park up and to do their business quickly and move on again.
“Our takings dropped through the floor. This end of the town is suffering, it's like we are not seen as a part of Antrim any more."
The correct signage has now been put in place.
