AN Aldergrove man watched as a plane departing from Belfast International Airport avoided a potential disaster after striking a runway light during take-off.
James Cousley spoke to the Antrim Guardian after an accident report concluded that the incident in July could have resulted in a crash with 'multiple fatalities'.
In the report, the Air Accident Investigation Branch established that insufficient thrust had occurred, possibly because an incorrect outside air temperature had been entered into the flight management computer.

James Cousley, from Drennans Road, said that he was in the garden of his nearby home when he saw the plane.
“It was really low," he said. "I shouted to my wife Maisie to look because I couldn't believe it."
