ANTRIM and Newtownabbey Borough Council is set to gamble 80,000 on the spin of a wheel this Christmas.
That's how much council chiefs are paying for the Ferris Wheel which will tower over this year's Enchanted Winter Garden.
Last year more than 44,000 people enjoyed free festive fun, but this year they will have to pay - and keep on paying.
After paying an admission cost, thrill seekers will have to dig deep to go on the boat ride, the carousel and the polar express. There's also a visit to the the Christmas food village to budget for, along with the traditional visit to Santa's Grotto.
And then there's the big wheel.
Tickets for it will set revellers back 3 a pop - and the council will have to shift quite a few to avoid its new cash cow becoming something of a white elephant.
