ST JOSEPH'S GAC in Glenavy has been recognised as one of the first official 'healthy clubs' in Ireland.
The local club can now proudly fly an endorsed flag above their grounds, letting their members and the community know that they value health and wellbeing as much as leagues and championships.
In January 2016, almost 100 clubs applied to participate in Phase Two of the project with many lamenting the dearth of services in their communities that are tackling issues such as obesity, sedentary lifestyles, mental health and suicide.
Among them was St Joseph's who wanted to be part of the solution and is now one of only two clubs in County Antrim to receive national recognition.
St Joseph's made history earlier in the year when they launched their complete smoke free policy - the first of its kind in Antrim.
