AN Antrim man accused of attempted murder has had an application for bail refused.
Jake Eaglen appeared via video link from custody at a recent sitting of Ballymena Magistrate's Court.
A police officer told the court that bail was opposed for a number of reasons.
Outlining the facts of the case she said that on Saturday, October 6 police received a report from a member of the public of a woman 'shouting for help'.
When police arrived they requested that the 24-year-old open his door and he shouted 'no'.
Police forced entry and on entering found the flat 'covered in blood' and a woman with a swollen face 'covered in blood'.
A witness described seeing the suspect 'jump on the chest of the injured party as she lay on the ground'.
District Judge Peter King said he was 'not going to consider bail in this case'.
