Antrim ends Newtownabbey monopoly at Council's top table thumbnail

AFTER four barren years, Antrim has finally broken the stranglehold exerted by Newtownabbey when it comes to the council's top jobs, after local councillors Paul Michael and John Smyth were elected Mayor and Deputy Mayor respectively at Monday night's AGM.
UUP rep Michael and his DUP deputy have a cordial working relationship and will undoubtedly work together to ensure that Antrim gets the best possible deal in the next 12 months - as the chamber gears up for another round of elections.
