Lurgan 0 Randalstown 46
RANDALSTOWN travelled to top four team Lurgan expecting a tough game.
On a cold but bright afternoon Randalstown kicked off and for the first twenty minutes it was completely dominated all exchanges, the home team seemingly unable to stop the onslaught.
Both Ryan and his brother Blayne McGarry had chances to put their team ahead, however indecision in the Town ranks saved Lurgan from early difficulties.
It was only a matter of time before the visitors took a well deserved lead coming when Joe Doyle finished off some great passing by Captain Dan Wilson and Ryan Keating.
The try went unconverted, but it wasn't long before Randalstown surged further ahead when Ryan McGarry crossed the line for a superb try, and this time Ryan Wilson was successful with the kick.
Two further tries, one of which was converted made the score 24-0 in favour of Randalstown.
First Kenny Pollin breached the home defence, then then came a brilliant solo effort by Liam Hurrell, a young man with great potential.
With half time approaching Ryan McGarry got his second try to give the visitors a comfortable 29-0 lead, and to make matters worse for Lurgan they lost their scrum half through injury. Lurgan began the second half by putting some pressure on the Randalstown line but great defence saw the vistors line remain intact.
After ten minutes Ryan McGarry completed his hat trick when he outran the home defence to score under the posts.
With the score now 34-0 Randalstown might have been tempted to take the foot of the gas, but instead began to put even more pressure on their opponents.
Two further tries by young Simon Finlay and the ever inproving Chris Gamble saw Lurgan fall further behind.
At this stage it was becoming difficult to keep tally of the score but when a final try was scored there was no doubt that the final score was 46-0 in favour of Randalstown. Lurgan may reflect on a couple of unfortunate injuries as a reason for this heavy defeat, but even with a full complement of players they would still have struggled to contain this Randalstown team who were in fine fettle.
