ON the best day of the year so far, Muckamore travelled the short distance to Mallusk to play Cliftonville in a Senior League match.
Muckamore Captain Andy McCulloch won the toss and sent Indrajeet Kamtekar and Wayne Horwood in to open the innings.
Scoring quickly, they took the score to 65 runs before the latter played a very loose shot at a wide delivery and was easily caught by cover fielder Munn after scoring three fours and two sixes in his quick fire 31 runs.
Jason Van Der Merwe joined Kamtekar and they kept up the tempo, taking the score to 188 runs into the 38th over until the former mistimed his shot to be easily caught by mid off fielder Menaul for 57 runs.
Bryan Baguley was Kamtekar's new partner for the next two overs until the latter was bowled by Munn. Kammy had batted for 151 minutes, faced 98 deliveries and hit five fours in his 89 run innings.
With only 10 overs remaining and seven wickets in hand, Ralph Coetzee was the new batsman and with Baguley they took the score to 212 runs before Baguley holed out to long on fielder Whitten after scoring only 10 runs.
Brian Dunlop came to the wicket and they added 24 runs before Coetzee was bowled by Blain in the 47th over.
Dunlop was caught by Menaul in the next over leaving Neil Gill and Trevor Neill to add a quick 22 runs in the final two overs to give Muckamore a final score of 262 runs for six wickets.
Cahill and Munn opened the batting for Cliftonville against the bowling of Neil Gill and Gary Nicholl who was making his first appearance in the senior squad.
The score slowly progressed to 33 runs before Nicholl got his first wicket when Munn top edged a delivery into cover fielder Van Der Merwe's hands.
New batsman Sczygiol was content to hold up an end as his partner Cahill chased the runs.
