The start of the Irish Rally season got in gear last Saturday (January 21) at Kirkistown with the New Year Stages.
More than 60 cars entered the rally but Derek McGeehan's Mini WRC, the first to be seen on these shores, proved to be the main attraction.
Last weekend also saw Derek McGarrity's first outing in his new Subaru S14 WRC.
McGarrity and his co-pilot James McKee took the overall win on the day, with Darren Gass/Nathan Gass in second, Kenny McKinstry/Ben Taggert in third place and Derek McGeehan/Laurie Smyth fourth in the Mini WRC.
An on form Keith White/David Lyness from Crumlin clinched seventh place overall in their Mk1 Escort while James and Heather Kennedy from Antrim came home with a respectable 12th overall in their Mk2 Escort.
The next event at Kirkistown is scheduled for Saturday, February 18 for the first round of the championship.
