Sammy’s on course for Ireland U16 hockey squad thumbnail

AN Antrim schoolboy is hoping to make it into this year's Ireland U16 hockey squad.
Sammy Clyde was invited to selection trials over four days between December and February, following an inter-provincial tournament in November last year.
With 40 boys invited, competition was stiff, but the Parkhall Integrated College student excelled and was selected for the training panel of 24 outfield players and four goalkeepers.
The commitment required is intense, with training from 1-5pm in Dublin on Sundays and the Sammy is currently preparing for a Dutch training camp.
