RANDALSTOWN Rugby Club will hold a glittering gala dinner this Friday (May 5) to mark the club's 70th anniversary.
The 'Giants come to Town' event sees one of the most iconic rugby players of all time, Francois Pienaar, joined by former Ireland and British and Irish Lions back row Fergus Slattery and former Scotland and British and Irish Lions wing Roger Baird.
Pienaar captained South Africa to their 1995 World Cup victory and is the subject of one of the most iconic photographs in world history.
The image of him receiving the Webb Ellis trophy from President Nelson Mandela wearing a Springbok jersey with the pair smiling and shaking hands is a watershed moment in South African and world history.
A spokesperson for Randalstown Rugby Club said: "Francois is truly a world statesman who transcends rugby and sport. It is an unbelievable coup for Randalstown to have such a speaker at this event."
