Antrim and Town back in the groove ahead of new hockey and rugby season thumbnail

ANTRIM Hockey Club's First XI entertained Cookstown on Saturday in the first of a series of pre-season fixtures as the team prepares for the challenge of Premier League Hockey.
The match ended with Cookstown running out 4-3 winners but coach Johnny McMeekin will be encouraged by the commitment shown by his boys and the high level of skills displayed.
And the new rugby season also got under way last weekend as Randalstown RFC travelled to Chambers Park in Portadown for their first pre-season 'friendly'.
Town have been training for almost a month and after some intense sessions, everybody was glad to get back into match action. And the training certainly paid off with the men in red and white beating their Qualifying League 1 opponents 33-19.
Meanwhile Randalstown will host their annual tournament this Saturday with Portadown, Hollywood, Carrick and the host club all in action ahead of the league season, which begins on August 26.
