Council accused of 'discrimination' over Christmas funding for Crumlin

RESIDENTS of Crumlin have issued a public call to Chief Executive, Jacqui Dixon, to explain why it is being virtually ignored by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council in terms of funding this Christmas.

The impassioned appeal comes after the Antrim Guardian was shown documents which reveal that out of a £220,000 pot of festive funding, Crumlin is receiving precisely nothing towards its Christmas celebrations.

Local people say they are unhappy about the Scrooge-like attitude which sees the town left without a single string of lights or a Christmas tree - while other towns have been given the lion’s share of the money.

According to them, the Council’s Christmas spirit is clearly lacking but they say that they are more concerned about the ‘blatant inequality and discrimination’.
