Christmas is coming and it's all light on the night in Antrim!

BELLS were ringing and children are now well and truly geared up for Christmas in Antrim after the town held its light switch-on last Friday night (November 23).

The merry man in red made a special appearance flanked by his elves and the youngsters were ready and waiting to hand over their letters and eager to learn if they were on the nice list this year.

There may have been a wintry chill in the air but it certainly didn’t stop people turning out in their droves to soak up the festive feeling.

And the cold weather was definitely not enough to deter The Grinch who also made an appearance!

Never fear though, the cantankerous character was on better than usual behaviour and - much to the relief of the children - he didn’t manage to steal Christmas this year.

Mayor Paul Michael performed the switch-on and the streets were lit up with an array of rich yuletide colours.

The countdown to Christmas is well and truly on!
