A TAXI driver came to the aid of a horrifically burned man in Greystone last week, it has emerged.
The victim was hospitalised after the shocking incident early on Friday morning.
Police responded to a report of a fire at a property in the Donore Crescent area of the town at around 7.30am.
Detective Sergeant Lyttle said: “Officers attended the scene along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service.
“A man in his 20s was taken to hospital for treatment by NIAS.
“Enquiries are continuing and there are no further details at this time.”
A spokesman for the Ambulance Service confirmed it was responding to reports of a male having sustained burns.
The spokesman said an emergency crew attended the incident, and after an initial assessment and treatment at the scene one patient was taken to hospital.
Former South Antrim MLA Adrian Watson, who owns a taxi company in the town, told the Antrim Guardian that one of his drivers had come across the man.
“The driver was leaving for work and heard screaming.” he said.
“He found the guy coming out of the flat, he was in a terrible state, he was half naked and badly burned.”
