THE musical chairs among the unsettled Ulster Unionist ranks continued this week, as the battle for seats in May’s council election intensified.
The UUP reckoned they were on to a good thing when they convened their selection meeting fashionably early in April this year - but instead the Association somehow managed to magnify divisions among the party faithful.
That meeting at Ballyclare Town Hall turned out to be a night of the long knives, with several established names put to the sword.
In a surprising turn of events just one of the reps who stood in the former Antrim wards of Dunsilly, Airport and Town in May 2014 - Paul Michael - was selected to lead the charge next year.
