A MULTI million pound investment will allow Antrim Area Hospital to carry out more than 3,000 extra MRI scans every year.
A bespoke new build site within radiology near the emergency department - to the tune of a whopping £3.4m - was developed as a collaboration between the Northern Trust and the Department of Health.
The new MRI scanner alone comes in at £1 million and Clinical Services Manager for Radiology, Matt Mallon and his team are delighted at the possibilities it offers.
“This Siemens scanner is one of the newest out there,” he explained.
“We had another one picked before everything was finished but this new model was released so we are thrilled that we were able to upgrade to it.”
