RANDALSTOWN ground to a standstill at noon on Friday as locals paused to remember the passing of a man who had championed their interests for more than three decades.
Though known by many for his good-natured heroics in the council chamber, in truth Bobby Loughran transcended politics.
From his early days he had ploughed his own furrow, earning the respect of people around him with his easy country charm, a broad smile and that infectious laugh.
To know him was to like him - and the Borough is undoubtedly a colder place this week with his passing.
