The Northern Trust, which runs Antrim Area, has also not been immune from the disturbing trend.
In 2018 the Trust confirmed that there had been 452 violent attacks on nurses, nine on doctors and six on other care staff.
District Judges have responded to the malaise too, handing down ever stiffer penalties at Antrim Magistrate’s Court.
The attacks, however, have continued - and that, according to Chief Nursing Officer Charlotte McArdle, is ‘totally unacceptable’.
