THE Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey has led the condemnation after a young father was fatally stabbed in Crumlin - a town already reeling in the wake of a number of violent crimes.

Paul Michael spoke out after the death of Niall Magee (21), citing the ‘growing scourge’ of knife crime.

Mr Magee was taken to hospital after police received reports of a ‘serious incident’ at Cairn Walk in the town at 2.50am on Saturday morning.

After he died from his injuries on Sunday morning, police launched a murder inquiry.
