Pastor 'truly sorry' for newlywed cyclist left paralysed after tragic road accident

A LOCAL Pastor, who crashed into a cyclist leaving him paralysed from the waist down, has expressed her desire to meet him and apologise face to face for what happened.

Elaine Oliver (Adu) was charged with causing grievous bodily injury to the cyclist by driving without due care and attention on June 10 last year.

She was also charged with having a defective tyre on the same date.

Antrim Magistrate’s Court heard that the accident occurred around 10.30am and that both Adu and the injured party were travelling on the Ballymena bound carriageway of the Lisnevenagh Road when his bike ended up under the car and he struck the bonnet.

When police arrived, the man was lying on his back on the road and had sustained ‘significant injuries’.
