MEMBERS of Birchhill Golf Society took part in a 72 hole challenge on Friday 28th June at Massereene Golf Club to raise funds for the NI Children’s Hospice.

Barry Graham (Captain) would like to thank the staff of Massereene Golf Club for hosting this event and all those who have donated to this very worthy cause which has raised approximately £3,000.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey Neil Kelly dropped in on the day and paid tribute to everyone who contributed to the fundrasiser.

“I would like to thank the members of Birchill Golf Society for organising a fund raising event at Masseerene Golf Club last Friday,” he said.

“The guys played 72 holes across four rounds of golf starting at 4.30am and would take them most of the day to complete.

“The funds raised will all go to The Children’s Hospice and is one of many charity events hosted by the club.

“The members have shown great community spirit and really did seem to enjoy the day.

“I met some of them when out on my early walk with my dog Murphy and called down later as Mayor to personally thank them for the good work they do.

“Well done to all involved!”
