THE Antrim Guardian understands that a convicted sex offender has been allegedly banished from a church in the town over suspicions that he ‘groomed’ a teenager in the recent past.
Sources say that elders reported their worries about the man’s behaviour to the committee of Greystone Road Presbyterian Church (pictured), noting that they believed that a ‘child protection issue’ had potentially occurred.
The matter was then reported to the PSNI.
The PSNI confirmed that they have been investigating the allegations.
“In February 2017, police received a report of historical child sexual abuse in the Antrim area.” said a spokeswoman.
“A file has been sent to the PPS.”
