BUSINESSES are being invited to take part in a survey to help inform a rescue plan for the embattled Lough Neagh.
A Heritage Resilience Plan is currently being developed by Lough Neagh Partnership to provide an integrated, long-term framework for the protection, restoration, and celebration of Lough Neagh’s built, natural and cultural heritage.
The Heritage Resilience Plan for Lough Neagh is described as ‘a strategic response to the escalating ecological, cultural, and economic risks facing the Lough’s landscape and communities’.
The Plan aims to ‘restore degraded ecosystems, safeguard cultural heritage, and create sustainable, place-based livelihoods that reconnect people with land, water, and story’.
Local businesses, especially those engaged in tourism, recreation, fishing, and hospitality, are said to be ‘central to this vision’.
A spokesperson said: “Their ability to thrive depends on a healthy, respected Lough Neagh, and in turn, their actions can shape the future of heritage, culture, and conservation.
“This consultation explores how the Heritage Resilience Plan can best support local business sustainability while embedding economic activity into the stewardship of Lough Neagh’s heritage.”
