Castle Mall in Antrim is set to become the canvas for a vibrant new community artwork this September, as local residents are invited to take part in free collaborative art sessions with artist Mhairi McGhie, supported by Choice Housing Ireland.
The drop in sessions will be held on 12th, 13th, 19th, and 20th September from 11am to 5pm, offering people of all ages and abilities the chance to get creative and help transform a blank space at Castle Mall opposite Poundstretcher into a colourful celebration of “Our Town, Our Community, Our Home.”
Participants are welcome to join for as long as they like on any of the days, with no need to attend all four sessions unless they wish to contribute to multiple sections of the artwork.
Artist Mhairi McGhie will lead the project, guiding the community through the creative process while encouraging personal expression and collective collaboration.
The result will be a permanent piece that reflects the unique character, pride, and togetherness of the town.
“This is about more than creating a mural, it is about giving people the opportunity to connect, share stories, and leave a lasting mark on the heart of their community,” said McGhie.
The project is open to everyone, whether seasoned artists or complete beginners, and all materials will be provided.
Other support is provided by the Northern Ireland Executive, T:buc, Housing for all and there will be free tea and cofffee provided by Antrim Community Fridge.
Join in this September to bring the wall to life and celebrate the spirit of community at Castle Mall.
The event is open to all ages and all artistic abilities or none, just a willing pair of hands!
