Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is running a programme of activities for Positive Ageing Month in October to celebrate the valued contribution made by those aged 50 and over to our communities.
Throughout October, residents are invited to take part in a wide range of events aimed at helping keep them active, connected, and healthy.
A Positive Ageing Month Booklet will outline events and activities organised by the Council and local community groups, not only during October but continuing throughout the year.
One of the highlights of the month is the Tea and Treats Roadshow, where residents can enjoy a free tea party with interactive ways to think about their health and wellbeing.
These will tale place at Ballyclare Town Hall on Friday 3 October 2025, 10.30am–12pm, Neillsbrook Community Centre on Wednesday 15 October, 10.30am–12pm, Crumlin Leisure Centre on Monday 20 October, 11am–12.30pm and Stiles Community Centre on Friday 31 October 2025, 10.30am–12pm.
Events will also take place in Carnmoney and Monkstown.
A Be Safe, Be Well event will take place at Antrim Library on Thursday 2 October from 10.30am–12.30p with live music, crafts, and information stands on financial health, scams, and general wellbeing.
A Templepatrick Health and Wellbeing Fair will take place at The Rabbit Hotel on Tuesday 14 October, from 10.30am–12.30pm with wellbeing services, health checks, CPR demonstrations, and refreshments.
The Food Programme in Ballyclare Town Hall on Thursday 16 October, 10am–1pm will provide a course covering healthy eating, food safety, and food skills, with live air fryer demonstrations.

Also requiring booking is the Hop Aboard Train Adventure on Tuesday 28 October.
The Antrim and Newtownabbey Seniors’ Forum for a group train trip to Coleraine.
