HUTCHINSON Care Homes, which runs six care homes across the Borough, has been acquired by the Healthcare Ireland Group.

John and Adeleine Huthcinson opened their first nursing home, Clonlee, back in 1990 - followed by Massereene Manor seven years later.

In 2005, with their daughters Janet and Naomi at the helm as Directors, Glenkeen and Drummaul House were added to the growing portfiolo.

In 2013 the Hutchinson at Home service commenced, in addition to the purchase of Ballyclare and Clareview - followed by the acquisition of Antrim Care Home in 2016.

The sale brings the Healthcare Ireland portfolio to 44 homes across Northern Ireland.

Managing Director, Gilbert Yates has paid tribute to the Hutchinson Care Group and expressed a commitment to retaining the existing level of care for all residents.

“We are very aware of the family values which underpin the Hutchinson Care Group because we share those throughout Healthcare Ireland. I want to personally reassure the residents in these six homes and their families that the standard of care they receive is our highest priority, and we are working closely with the dedicated Hutchinson Group to ensure a smooth and seamless transition of the homes and the care provided.

“Equally, all of the members of staff within the Hutchinson Group will be welcomed into the Healthcare Ireland family. Their professionalism and dedication to residents match our own and I look forward to those staff joining our team.

“This has been a milestone year for Healthcare Ireland as we continue to grow our overall operation through our own expansion and through appropriate acquisitions. We believe very strongly in treating all of our residents with the same level of compassion, dignity and respect.

“Such care is now provided to thousands of residents across our group and I look forward to welcoming the 285 residents of Hutchinson Homes to the Healthcare Ireland group.”

Naomi Carey from Hutchinson Care Group said the business was in safe hands.

“We have been operating our care homes across County Antrim for 35 years and we have always been committed to delivering quality care for our residents and an assurance to their families,” she said.

“Now the time has come for us to move out of the business I am very happy that Healthcare Ireland will take over our homes.

“I think this acquisition will be very beneficial for our residents, and for all of our treasured staff who will transfer to Healthcare Ireland.”
