THE Randalstown man who famously wowed Taylor Swift has been serenading the stars yet again!
Celebrities and supporters of The King’s Trust came together this week for a night of festive celebration at the historic St Paul’s Church in London for the King’s Trust Carol Concert in partnership with Cunard.
Guests enjoyed readings from Dominic West, Penny Lancaster, Adrian Lester, Sonali Shah, Dame Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan, with uplifting live music from award-winning artists Sam Ryder, Jamie Cullum and local man Tiernan Heffron.
Rising star Tiernan is a Young Ambassador supported by The King’s Trust - a role that has given him renewed confidence to pursue a career in music.
And it was certainly a night to remember for the talented 25-year-old.
He delivered a magical performance of his original song ‘This Christmas’, along with a moving rendition of ‘Fairytale of New York’.
“I’m really proud to have been a part of The King’s Trust Carol Concert not just as a performer, but as a Young Ambassador,” he said.
“I’ve always been passionate about music, and the support I’ve had from The Trust gave me the confidence to keep going and share that passion with others
“It’s a night I’ll never forget.”
Just the latest, it would seem!
Back in 2021 he was performing his set at The Tipsy Bird in Belfast city centre when singing superstar Taylor Swift and her pals dropped by.
“As I was setting up and warming up the crowd, a woman come up to me and said, ‘Just to let you know, Taylor Swift has just walked in’. I kind of laughed and looked up and it was her.
“My knees just went and my heart started beating fast but I wasn’t nervous or panicking.
“I knew how potentially huge the moment was and said I would just treat her like every other person in the room, as she is just normal like everybody else. I just went for it.”
And she was impressed!
As Tiernán continued to work through his set list of covers and original songs, Swift came up for a chat and to offer some advice.
“She came up to me half way through and gave me a tip from her own pocket, then she said ‘You deserve this, this is for you’.
“She said: “Who are you, what's your name? How can I follow you?
“She said: ‘You're doing really well’ then asked could we get a photo together.
“We then chatted about my own music and songwriting, it just welled me up. I think she saw how much it meant to me. It was such a special moment.”
Since then he has gone from strength to strength, opening for Tom Grennan.
