CRUMLIN Integrated College lit up the stage in December with a dazzling three-night run of Matilda the Musical Jr, captivating audiences from the moment the curtain rose until the final, thunderous applause.

At the heart of the production was Year 9 pupil Emily Ferguson, whose portrayal of Matilda brought warmth, wit, and a quiet resilience to the role, capturing the audience’s hearts with a performance far beyond her years.

A spokesperson for the school said that the entire cast ‘demonstrated an impressive level of professionalism, teamwork, and enthusiasm’.

“From the mischievous energy of the ensemble to the confident delivery of key characters, every pupil involved contributed to a polished, uplifting show that showcased the depth of talent within the school.

“Behind the scenes, Crumlin Integrated College’s dedicated staff and pupils worked tirelessly to bring the production to life.

“From the colourful costumes to the imaginative set design and seamless technical work, the school proved that it can deliver high-quality performing arts experiences.”

The show was directed by Mrs Sarah McEvoy with Mr John Conlon as Assistant Director. Ms Roisin Corr was Musical Director, and the musical was produced by Miss Aoife Corr. AXL Audiovisual Ltd. assisted with sound and lighting during the performances.

A spokesperson said: “More importantly, the production embodied everything Crumlin Integrated College stands for: inclusion, creativity, and the belief that every young person should have the opportunity to shine.

“The pride within the hall was unmistakable each night, as families, friends, and members of the wider community gathered to support the pupils’ hard work.

“The success of Matilda the Musical Jr. is another shining milestone in a school that continues to nurture confidence, celebrate individuality, and inspire excellence.

“If this performance is any indication of what’s to come, the future of Crumlin Integrated College’s arts programme - and its remarkable pupils - is exceptionally bright.
