A FUNDRAISING pool tournament was held in Antrim Sports Club recently in memory of Eddie McStravick and Shaun Letters.

The beneficiaries were Aware NI and Chest Heart and Stroke.

Event Organiser Emma Burke said: “This event was in aid of two friends who we lost within three months of each other last year.

“This was one of the hardest to do as we all miss the boys so much. I want to thank everyone who donated and supported, to all the businesses in Randalstown and further afield who kindly donated raffle prizes, Rab Fee and Claire Stewart of Antrim Sports Club who are always supportive of my events, to the families for allowing me and trusting me to do this".

Rab Fee met Gee Crawley in the intense final, but Rab just had that edge over Gee to take out the winning black, and both men donated their winnings to the charities.

The total raised was £3128, £1564 per charity.

Eddie passed away last August. He grew up in Springfarm before the family moved to Randalstown. He played soccer for Greystone Rovers and GAA with St Comgall’s and Tir na Nog as well as being a big Manchester United fan.

He helped his brother Robert build and establish The Coffee Co. in New Street Randalstown.

Shaun Letters passed away in November, also from Randalstown. Shaun made his way through the underage ranks with Tír na nÓg hurlers and played in Croke Park in an All Ireland U16 C final.

In 2002, Shaun played centre half forward in a junior championship winning team beating Cloughmills and 2019, came out of retirement to strip out for the junior hurlers. He also coached the underage players.
