AN Antrim woman is completing 5km a day in February for Autism NI.
Karen has already raised over £900 and has been getting drenched nearly every single day of her challenge, but is continuing to go out in all weathers and conditions.
Karen has been supported and joined by colleagues from Parkhall Integrated College where she works - with Steve Caldwell even pledging to wax his legs if she reaches the £1,000 mark!
The fundraiser works with numerous teenagers with ASD and is a shining example and role model for so many of them.
Karen said: “I’m raising money for Autism NI a charity that does incredible work supporting autistic children, young people, and their families across Northern Ireland.
“I’ve chosen to do a 5K walk because it’s something simple but meaningful. It reminds us that small steps, when taken together, can make a big difference. Every step I take is for the children and families who benefit from the support, understanding, and opportunities Autism NI provides.
“I’m lucky enough to work with autistic kids, and it’s honestly one of the most rewarding experiences.
“I’ve seen their kindness, their resilience, and the incredible way they experience the world. They see the world in unique and brilliant ways, and working with them has taught me patience, creativity, and the importance of acceptance.
“With the right support, autistic children can thrive - and charities like Autism NI make that possible.
“By donating, you’re helping to create a more inclusive world where autistic children are understood, supported, and celebrated. Thank you so much for your support - it truly means everything.”
