ROYAL Mail has refuted claims that there are any major delays or issues with delivery from its’ Antrim depot.
This newspaper has received a number of complaints about parcels and letters not being delivered, as well as claims of staff shortages and high levels of absence and sickness at the local office.
A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “Our local team continues to work hard to deliver all mail as quickly and efficiently as possible.
“We can confirm claims of letters ‘piling up for days’ are not accurate and mail is cleared regularly in line with our delivery schedule.
“We have not seen any significant increase in customers collecting parcels themselves.
“We are currently managing higher sick absence and, like many employers, are experiencing some recruitment challenges in a competitive local jobs market.
“We’ve stepped up local recruitment, including attending job fairs, and remain focused on maintaining a reliable service for our customers.”
