POLICE in Antrim are investigating following a recent altercation in the town centre.
The Guardian understands that an incident took place outside a pizza takeaway involving a small group of males in their early 40s and a group of up to nine youths, after the younger men were asked to stop ‘hassling’ a female staff member.
The older men sustained injuries including a broken nose and bruising.
Sergeant Marks said: “A report was received at approximately 1.30am on Saturday morning, 28th February of a fight between two groups in the Church Street area.
“It’s understood there was a verbal disagreement in a nearby takeaway premises, and a physical altercation then broke out in the street.
“Officers attended the scene where a number of injuries were reported – thankfully, none of which are believed to be serious.
“Enquiries are ongoing to determine what happened and who was involved.
“Anyone who may have CCTV, dash-cam or other footage of the area or who noticed anything suspicious, please phone us on 101, quoting reference number 96 28/02/26.”
