ANTRIM Town DUP rep Paul Dunlop has welcomed improvement works at Allen Park.

He said: “After successfully lobbying council, I am delighted that work to improve the entrance to Allen Park is due to begin.

“A number of users of the facility had raised some concerns to me ,around the flow of traffic entering and leaving from the main castle road.

“After a site meeting with Council officers and myself ,it was clear to see that the road design, once you enter, was causing significant back up of traffic at peak times in both directions.

“New improved lighting will also have a positive impact.”

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council has advised users that works will be taking place at Allen Park from the week commencing Monday 15 September.

The works are expected to last for up to 12 weeks.

A statement said: “This project will deliver significant upgrades, including:

“Installation of new drainage, upgraded lighting and realignment and resurfacing of the entrance driveway to remove the current S-bend

“These improvements will greatly enhance safety, accessibility, and the overall visitor experience at Allen Park.

“During the works, a traffic management system will be in place.

“As a result, members and visitors may experience some delays when entering or exiting the site.

“All users are being asked to allow extra travel time for bookings, sessions, and events.

“A project information board has been installed in the main reception area, to provide regular customer updates on progress.”
