The Annual Interclub Five Over Six a Side Tournament for the George Goodman Memorial Cup was held on Saturday at Moylena.
Despite the inclement weather six teams battled all day and four teams, Ormiston’s Originals, Magowan’s Maestros, Pawar’s Pick and the Jackson Six fought their way through to the semifinals.
In the first semifinal Ormiston’s Originals batted first and scored 61 runs for the loss of five wickets while their opponents Magowan’s Maestros scored 65 runs without wicket loss to win the game and qualify for the final.
In the other semifinal Pawar’s Pick scored 70 runs without losing a wicket, easily beating the Jackson Six by 37 runs to fill the other final spot.
In the final Pawar’s Pick batted first and scored 54 runs for the loss of two wickets.
In reply the Magowan’s Marauders could only score 45 runs for the loss of two wickets to narrowly lose the game by nine runs.
