Sad passing of rugby stalwart

RANDALSTOWN Rugby Club are deeply saddened by the passing of Stephen McClenaghan.

Stephen was a player and supporter of Randalstown for many years and was part of that famous Randalstown RFC team tour to the USA in 1984.

Only a few weeks ago Stephen was able to attend a fortieth anniversary reunion lunch to meet and chat to other members of the team.

Stephen did much to encourage players and volunteers to join Randalstown RFC and according to Chairman Ian Boyd, it was Stephen who asked him along to the Club.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Elsie and the family at this time,” said a spokesperson.

Stephen's funeral will take place on Friday 26th April at 1pm in Antrim and Newtownabbey Crematorium.

Anyone attending is encouraged to wear club ties, shirts, jumpers, or other club wear as was Stephen’s wishes.
