Sinn Féin’s Declan Kearney has welcomed completion of a new entrance feature for the Rathenraw estate in Antrim.
It is the latest in a number of improvements delivered in the estate through the work of the multi-agency forum convened by the local MLA and involving Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, Housing Executive, Department for Infrastructure, and PSNI.
Speaking after the official unveiling of the feature, the South Antrim MLA said;
“I was delighted to attend the official unveiling of the new Rathenraw entrance feature, alongside my Party colleague, Antrim Town councillor, Lucille O’Hagan.
“This impressive landmark is the latest in a number of improvements delivered for the estate and is emblematic of positive local community spirit.
“Rathenraw is a great place to live with a strong sense of civic pride.
“A number of agencies helped to deliver this significant achievement, including the Housing Executive, Antrim and Newtownabbey Council and the Department for Infrastructure.
“The young people of Rathenraw Youth Scheme made a very important and enthusiastic contribution by designing the centre piece of the entrance feature, which celebrates the estate as a diverse community and a welcoming neighbourhood.
“The Rathenraw estate deserves recognition. This entrance feature is a positive demonstration of what can be achieved by partnership working between agencies through our multiagency forum, and with involvement of the local community.”
