RANDALSTOWN man David Burrowes has generously donated all proceeds from the sale of his book, ‘The Way It Was’, to the Macmillan Unit in Antrim.

David’s book is comprised of short stories from his experience of growing up in Randalstown during the 50s and 60s and includes amusing anecdotes of childhood innocence, romance and some harmless mischief.

David had originally donated a copy of his book to Graham’s Opticians, Randalstown, as something for patients to read in the waiting room.

His stories and his way with words seemed to really resonate with the readers, and soon Graham’s Opticians had compiled a sizeable list of individuals wanting to purchase a copy for themselves!

After chatting with David it was agreed that Graham's Opticians would sponsor the printing costs and stock the book in the practice for anyone wanting to purchase a copy, meaning all proceeds amounting to £700 from the book sales could be donated to the Macmillan unit in Antrim.

The donation is given in memory of well-known Randalstown man George Graham, who passed away earlier this year.
