Year 12 GCSE Construction students from St. Benedict’s College, accompanied by Mrs Gibson and Mrs Rankin, have taken part in the CITB Construction Careers Bootcamp.

The inspiring and highly engaging event is designed to introduce young people to the wide range of professional opportunities within the modern construction industry.

The bootcamp offered the students a unique chance to step into the shoes of industry professionals through a series of hands-on, interactive workshops delivered by leading construction employers from across Northern Ireland. Throughout the day, pupils sampled a variety of career pathways, including:

Project Management, Civil and Structural Engineering

Other specialist roles shaping the future of the industry

Students explored real-world projects, took on practical challenges and learned directly from experts currently working in the field.

The experience allowed them to discover potential career routes, understand progression opportunities, and gain valuable insight into both the technical and professional skills in demand within the sector.

St. Benedict’s College students returned to school inspired and better informed about the diverse and evolving world of construction careers.

The college now looks forward to future collaborations with CITB and to working more closely with Equans through the Adopt a School scheme — a partnership that will further support students in understanding the exciting opportunities available in the construction sector as the ‘Drive for Construction’ continues to grow.
